Deep sleep, snoring and hypnotherapy

March 5th, 2008

This week is National Sleep Awareness Week in the US.

In the National Sleep Foundation's 2008 Sleep in America poll, 29% of poll respondents fell asleep or became very sleepy at work in the past month, 36% have fallen asleep or nodded off while driving in the past year, and 20% have lost interest in sex because they are too sleepy.

Wow! That is a little scary. Nodding off whilst driving!

As someone who used to suffer from poor quaity and interrupted sleep – until I discovered the amazing tool of self-hypnosis – my heart goes out to people who are struggling to get a good night's sleep.

It doesn't surprise me at all that some people will try anything to find a solution to their insomnia or sleep disturbances.  But I really had to laugh when I saw this sleep mask, which was actually given away to celebrities in their goody bags at the recent Oscars.

This really made me giggle. Can you imagine the beautiful Cate Blanchett or the gorgeous George Clooney waking up every morning in one of those?

However, it seems that getting good quality sleep really is a big problem for celebrities. Scrolling down the page at Sleepzine.com, it seems that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are sleeping in separate bedrooms as a result of Tom's snoring. I think Tom needs to make an appointment for some good hypnotherapy.
