I often talk to people about how the things that they do, which they hate, are a result of parts of themselves trying to meet legitimate needs in ways that aren&#039;t helpful for them as whole people. 

Maybe I should weave in the suggestion that some of those &quot;needs&quot; themselves may be outdated, not just the ways in which they meet them.</description>
